Becoming Lights in the World

This is one of my favorite thoughts of all time; the fact that as we follow Christ and seek to be more like Him, we'll be able to be examples to others' thus becoming 'lights in the world'.  What a glorious thought that is.

One of my favorite recent scriptures to which I've given much thought is this:

"Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning."  James 1:17.

What does 'Father of Lights' really mean, I wondered?  Here's what I found:

D&C 67:9  "For ye know that there is no unrighteousness in them, and that which is righteous cometh down from above, from the Father of lights."

"Of this expression, also found in James 1:17, Elder Bruce R. McConkie wrote: “‘God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.’ (1 John 1:5.) That is, he is the embodiment, author, and source of light, or in other words the Father of Lights. (Jas. 1:17.)” (Mormon Doctrine, p. 278.)  Institute Manual

Let us seek to do what he'd have us do and live as he'd have us live.  In this there is great peace now and great promises for the world to come!

Rise Above!

Who among us doesn't want to find peace and happiness?  This glorious photo does something for me;  it lifts me beyond my own small space and reminds me of beauties beyond my own understanding.  I am ever grateful for a loving God who has blessed us all with sunsets, flowers, blue skies, majestic mountains, green grassy fields etc.  These seem to lift us all to a higher plane.

The message on this photo does even more than that.  It helps us know that our choices have consequences those that bring either misery or those that bring everlasting happiness.  Hopefully, we'll all choose the latter.  It's a much better place to live.

Listen to the Still, Small Voice

We need to be quiet as often as possible so that we can hear a still, small voice.  It will guide us, strengthen us, encourage us, and comfort us.  In order to hear it we must be still and small ourselves.  Humility and patience are Godly traits which help us receive guidance from God through His Spirit.  What a blessing it is to know these things.  Now, let's put things of the world out of our hearts and minds so that we can be 'in tune' with sweeter frequencies.

Acknowledge and Face Weaknesses

This precious gem from Jorg Klebingat "Acknowledge and face your weaknesses, but don't be immobilized by them" teaches us something of our intrinsic value and the need we all have for a Redeemer.  My friend, Tomas, reminded me that 'the Savior heals without a scar'.  We are here to learn from the things we experience and to overcome all the we can in preparation for a greater day ahead.  Let's continue that quest as we work together, in love, and not in criticism, as 'we're all in this together' and we need one another to help us along the path.

Gathering Light; Quest of a Lifetime

What a beautiful message:  "The Process of Gathering Light is the Quest of a Lifetime!"
